The vast majority of people come into this world with genes that should enable them to live a happy and healthy life. The diseases that are today’s scourges-diabetes,heart disease, and cancer-short circuit a happy and healthy life. These diseases, however, are not the result of a single gene, but of complex interactions among multiple genes and environmental factors. When it comes to genetic control, Its the environment.(Lipton,B.H.(2005).”The Biology of Belief,Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter & Miracles.)
One of the easiest environmental factors you can control is what you decide to put into your body. Inflammation is the root of most diseases-heart disease, cancer, diabetes etc.
Try to eliminate or reduce as many inflammatory foods as possible.Start with unhealthy fats.
Omega-6 fats are inflammatory because they are metabolized into hormone-like compounds that promote inflammation.these include:
Corn, safflower, sunflower, peanut and soybean oils.
Trans fats found in processed or fast foods and fried foods should be eliminated.
Refined carbohydrates are inflammatory.Refined flour, sugar and foods high on the glycemic index increase inflammatory conditions. These foods elevate insulin and glucose levels which increase levels of pro-inflammatory messengers.
Food allergies or sensitivities can play a role in inflammation. The most common sensitivities are to wheat gluten, dairy, and eggs.If you have inflammatory conditions or autoimmune problems(rhuematoid arthritis,Lupus, psoriasis etc.)-it is a good idea to have your blood tested for sensitivities. We work with ALCAT labs at this office and get excellent results when people follow their prescribed menus. For more information-go to www.alcat.com.
A good rule of thumb to remember:
“If you cant pick it or shoot it, don’t eat it”
That leaves all fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds and high quality animal protein.Try to buy organic whenever possible to decrease the amount of pesticide and drug toxins ingested from processed, non organic foods.
Try to shop just the perimeter in grocery stores. The isles contain all processed, inflammatory foods.
